'Project Access' provides access to specialty medical care for free

Project Access East Tennessee is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing healthcare services to low-income, uninsured individuals in the Appalachian region.

Founded in Buncombe County, North Carolina, it operates across several counties in East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia, aiming to bridge the gap in healthcare access for vulnerable populations.

Their mission centers on ensuring that all residents have access to quality healthcare regardless of their financial circumstances.

Through partnerships with healthcare providers and volunteers, they offer a range of services including medical consultations, diagnostic tests, medications and specialty care, all at no cost to the patients.

This organization holds significant importance for Appalachia, where at risk and healthcare disparities are notably high. By addressing these gaps, Project Access East Tennessee not only improves the health outcomes of individuals but also contributes to the overall well-being and stability of the region.

Over the years, they have expanded their reach and services, garnering support from local communities, healthcare professionals, and donors.

Through their efforts, they strive to create a healthier and more equitable future for the people of East Tennessee, embodying the spirit of compassion and solidarity in healthcare.
